The best type of standing rigging is where the stay is spliced into an eye around the mast. A Rigging Cleat also called a Thumb Cleat or Hound was used on the opposite side of the mast to keep the eye from slipping down. These cleats have openings that will support 1/4", 3/8", 7/16" and 1/2" wire rope.
